Which veneers, on how many teeth and in how many visits — in writing before we start, with no hidden costs.

What veneers can fix

  • Front teeth are discoloured and whitening did not give you the result you wanted.
  • Teeth are chipped, worn, or their edges are uneven.
  • There is a small gap between your front teeth that bothers you.
  • Teeth look short or irregularly shaped.
  • Old composite fillings on the front teeth have yellowed at the edges.

What a veneer is

A veneer is a thin layer of composite or ceramic bonded permanently to the front of a tooth. It changes the shape, the shade and the edge of the tooth — the tooth underneath is still yours. You choose the shape and the shade with us, before anything is bonded.

Composite or ceramic — two kinds of veneers

We make both in the practice. The difference is not only how they look, but also how the veneer is made, how much of the tooth is prepared and how it is maintained later.

Composite veneers

Direct, in the practice

  • Built layer by layer directly on the tooth, usually in a single visit.
  • Almost no tooth is removed — material is added to the tooth, not taken away.
  • If one chips, it can be repaired and polished on the same tooth.
  • Over time they can pick up colour from coffee, tea and smoking; they are then polished or refreshed.
  • A good choice for smaller corrections, for younger patients, and when you want to see the result first.

Ceramic veneers

Made in a laboratory, metal-free ceramic

  • Made in a dental laboratory from an impression or scan of your teeth, usually in two visits.
  • Metal-free ceramic lets light through much like natural enamel, so the shade is closest to a real tooth.
  • They change colour less than composite — more resistant to coffee, tea and smoking.
  • They require a thin layer of enamel to be removed from the front of the tooth.
  • If one chips, it is usually replaced with a new veneer rather than repaired in place.

Which kind we recommend depends on your teeth, your bite and what bothers you. The written plan states which material we suggest, why that one, and what happens if a veneer is damaged later.

How the path to veneers looks

1

Examination and conversation

A free examination: we look at the teeth, the gums, the bite and the old fillings. You tell us what bothers you about your smile.

2

Whether veneers are the right answer

Sometimes whitening, orthodontics or an ordinary composite filling is enough. If so, we tell you before we start.

3

Plan and material choice

You receive a written plan: which teeth, which material, how many visits and a fixed price. We choose the shape and shade together.

4

Preparation and bonding

If needed, tartar is removed and old fillings are replaced first. The veneers are bonded under local anaesthesia, tooth by tooth.

5

Check-up and maintenance

We check the bite, polish the edges and show you how to make the veneers last. A follow-up is scheduled a few weeks later.

When veneers are not the right answer

Veneers are not for everyone, and we say so at the examination. Better to hear it before anything is bonded.

Unhealthy gums

If the gums bleed or are inflamed, the inflammation is treated first. Veneers on top of it would hide the problem, not solve it.

A significantly irregular bite

When teeth are very crooked or the bite is irregular, orthodontics can give a better and more lasting result than veneers.

Teeth grinding

If you grind or clench heavily, veneers wear faster and can come off. A night guard is needed, and sometimes a crown is the more durable solution.

Very worn teeth

When a tooth is already heavily worn down, there is nothing for a veneer to cover. That calls for rebuilding the tooth, not only an aesthetic layer.

Expectations a tooth cannot meet

Shade and shape can do a lot, but they cannot create teeth that do not naturally exist. At the examination we say what is realistic.

How to make veneers last

Veneers are not ruined by the bonding — they are ruined by edges, pressure and skipped check-ups.

Do not open packets with your teeth, bite your nails or crack hard shells with them.

If you grind your teeth, wear the night guard we make for you — it protects both the veneers and the teeth underneath.

Brush and floss between the veneers as you do between all your other teeth.

You do not have to give up coffee, red wine and smoking for life, but rinse with water after them.

If a veneer chips or comes off, call us — do not glue it back yourself.

Come for a check-up once or twice a year, including when nothing hurts.

What affects the cost of veneers?

The cost does not depend only on the number of teeth — it depends on the material, the laboratory work and the condition of the teeth the veneer is bonded to. That is why we give it in writing, after the examination.

How many teeth

One tooth or the whole visible zone? The price is calculated per tooth, and the number of teeth is the largest part of the plan.

Composite or ceramic

Composite veneers are made directly in the practice; ceramic ones involve laboratory work, an impression and a try-in.

Condition of teeth and gums

If cleaning, treatment of a tooth or replacement of old fillings is needed first, that goes into the plan before the veneers.

Night guard

If you grind your teeth, the guard is part of the plan — without it the veneers last less long.

Number of visits

How many visits are needed depends on the number of teeth, the type of veneer and how the teeth settle after bonding.

After the examination you receive a written plan with the number of teeth, the type of veneer, the number of visits and a fixed price. If something not in the plan turns out to be necessary, we tell you before we continue.

“Dr Tanja is a great professional. Punctual, kind, precise, always smiling, dedicated to her work. After more than 10 visits to her practice I do not even think about changing her. After her work, the repaired tooth looks better than my natural one. There is no one better, and more affordable, in the blocks. Highly recommended!”(translated)

Original review in Serbian:

Doktorka Tanja je veliki profesionalac u svom poslu. Tačna, ljubazna, precizna, uvek nasmejana, predana svom poslu. Posle više od 10 dolazaka u njenu ordinaciju ni ne pomišljam da je menjam. Posle njene intervencije, popravljen zub mi bude lepši od mog prirodnog. Nema bolje, a pristupačnije u blokovima. Za svaku preporuku!

Frequently asked questions about veneers

The cost depends on the number of teeth, the material — composite or ceramic — and on whether teeth or gums need treatment first. That is why we do not publish a single number: after a free examination you receive a written plan with every item and a fixed price, with no hidden costs.

For composite veneers almost no tooth is removed — material is added to the tooth. For ceramic veneers a thin layer of enamel is removed from the front, because the finished ceramic has to fit onto the tooth. How much exactly depends on the tooth, and it is stated in the plan.

Several years, depending on the material, your bite and your habits. Composite is polished and refreshed over time; ceramic keeps its colour longer. If you grind your teeth, how long they last depends most on whether you wear the night guard.

The aim is that they cannot. We choose the shade and shape to match your other teeth, your face and your age, and for ceramic we do a try-in before bonding. You can always say it is too white — better before bonding than after.

Composite ones can usually be repaired and polished; ceramic ones are usually replaced with a new veneer. That is why you receive care instructions after bonding and come for a check-up.

Composite veneers are usually done in one visit, ceramic ones in two — preparation with an impression, then bonding. For more teeth the plan may also include a try-in and a follow-up.

Bonding is done under local anaesthesia and most patients feel no pain. Afterwards there may be mild sensitivity to cold, which usually settles within a few days.
